This is the formal ‘Dave in three paragraphs’ that sits on my CV:
Dave specializes in creating and marketing massively popular media properties. In 2007, Dave joined Shelfari, a company of three technically savvy book nuts aiming to build the best social site for book readers. In a little over a year they took an unknown site with 10,000 members and made it the leader in its space with nearly 2 million members, a growing advertising business, and a good pathway to expansion and extension. Amazon.com purchased Shelfari in 2008, and the product and community continue to grow and improve.
Prior to Shelfari, Dave held senior product management and marketing roles at Internet music innovator RealNetworks. Dave was director of product management during the the building and launching of Rhapsody.com and Rhapsody’s Web Services program, the latter being Rhapsody’s largest source of traffic, growth, and subscriptions.
Dave spent his five years before Stanford business school working in economic development with NGOs and banks in Asia and Latin America that were implementing and assessing microcredit programs, including time as a Fulbright scholar with Muhammad Yunus and Grameen Bank in Bangladesh.
